I would like to know which beach in the Caribbean has
the most calm ocean waves and is safest for swimming with
a young child ? Thinking of Negril, Cancun, Cuba, Punta Cana.
Thank you

Negril beach - bloody bay (RIU Tropical) was extremely calm like a lake
when we were there a few years ago.

Thank you for this suggestion...

The north coast of Cancun, along the east-west portion of the hotel zone
just east of town.

Going beyond your list I vote for Baby Beach on Aruba. See it here:

Baby Beach was created by Standard Oil for their employees ...
specifically for their little kids. The stone seawall on the left in
Don's picture keeps the waves out. Standard Oil turned the refinery
over to the local government long ago and the SO employees are long
gone - and the beach in now a public park. AFAIK, it's a LONG way
from any tourist lodging.
Be aware that some of these mostly-enclosed areas may not get enough
change of water to be as clean as you'd like, but I'd guess that Baby
Beach is OK.

Negril has exactly what you are looking for! Perfect beach for
smaller swimmer! I would suggest Beaches Negril since there are also
lots of supervised kids club activities. For less money and less
organized kid stuff you can choose Riu Tropical Bay. Same great
beach, but less $ due to some fewer amenities.

Until the volcano decides to blow again. Montserrat isn't open for
tourism. It's open for volcanologists, and humanitarian groups yes but
not tourists. See: http://www.mvo.ms/

Actually, Monserrat is strongly encouraging tourism. They need the money. I
went over on a day trip from Antigua this winter. Obviously, its
limited....you can only go into the Exclusion Zone in daylight. But they are
preceding with building a new capital, and there are several B&Bs
available. But I'd do a lot of research first before spending my whole
vacation there :-)
