I hear mosquitoes are heavy at Chichen Itza. Does this differ during
different times of the year? How about late November? What insect
repellent do you recommend for an 8 month-old baby?
We are spending 2 nights at Chichen Itza and the rest of the time at
Cozumel. Would it be worthwhile to take along a light umbrella stroller, or
should we just backpack her?
Has anyone used babysitters provided on the island?
Thanks for your help.

Chichen is a BIG site. You should have some sun covering for your child lest
the baby get fried.
If you use a stroller you will not be able to climb those steps with it. Steps
are narrow and the incline is very steep. Then again, backpacking her up and
down there may be hazardous unles you are in good physical health and and can
carry that weight on your back without losing balance.

Remember that coming DOWN those steps is more hazardous than going up for
most folks.

Stay away from clouds. The silver lining everyone keeps talking about might
be a hailstorm. Reliable sources also report that lighting has been known to
hide out in clouds.

I'd not take a baby up those steps. They have a chain to hold on to coming
down or going up because they are difficult and hazardous.
