Default Any advice on Sydney hotels?

Hi

I am travelling down to Sydney next month to catch up with some friends...a couple of hotels have popped up in my websearch...The Menzies (www.sydneymenzieshotel.com.au) and the Novotel in Darling Harbour (www.novoteldarlingharbour.com.au)...I quite like four star hotels and my experiences with Novotels elsewhere has been pretty good...has anyone stayed in these properties and could give some feedback?

I ended up staying at the Mercure Sydney Hotel which was very pleasant. Located right near Central Station and a bus ride straight down George Street (the main street) through the shoppoing district and down to Circular Quay, The Rocks tourist precenct and the Opera House. Good value by booking on-line.

You could also try:
Shangri-La Hotel
The newly-renovated Hilton
The Hyde Park Hyatt

Actually this is going to help my cause a lot as for the first time I am going for the Australia tour and the vacation is a long one. It is always prudent to be informed about the staying places which releases a lot of tensions to go and fix things there. I am also looking for a travel buddy who might be of some help to us in the vacation and also ensures that he best places to be seen there are not missed by me. If anyone interested do post a reply.
