Think I would look at the recent thread that Michael Young has posted on
concerning SSN-he's the pro from Dover on SSNs.

30 days would have been a breeze in our case! They told us they had to
mail away for verification and that it might take 30 days and then it
took them 90 days! We only got it when we wrote to our Congressman
(thank you John Kline) and his office intervened.

It's been said (and from what I have read it seems to work) that if you
wait a week or two after filing and getting the EAD that the BCIS then
has time to update the system and SSA doesn't have to write to verify.
Supposedly much quicker. Unfortunately we didn't know that at the time
and we went straight down to SSA after getting the EAD and Dave wasn't
in the system yet.

What a hassle huh? Good luck to you!

Yep, same here. My green card actually arrived before my SS number so
applying for the EAD turned out to be a waste of time and money. Course,
fortunately that doesn't happen in every case! Good luck, but 30 days
sounds pretty good to me.

Wow 30 days to get SSN I feel so lucky as I'm in Tx and applied for mine
last Friday and got it yesterday. Only thing I seem to be having
problems with is obtaining a Texas Drivers License. For some reason they
won't let me get one until I have a perm resident card.

Sorry to hear of your struggle
