Default Giant Wheel attraction for Orlando

Add this to 'coming attractions' for Orlando 2009...

The Great Wheel Corp. has purchased 20 acres (for $38 million) near Orlando
Sea World and the Orange Co. Convention Center, and plans to build a giant
observation wheel there.

It will be about 400 feet high, and very similar to the London Eye in height
and operation.

Media event on Wednesday June 25 to start construction and announce the
opening date.

Naw, Dixie Stampede was off I-4 south of SWF. The convention center
is to the north.
If you pull up maps.google.com and looks at SWF, you'll see a patch of
land where I-4 turns onto the 528.
That would make the wheel visible from I-4.
There's also a couple patches of land just past the convention center
leading to SWF on the east side of I-Drive.
That would be the best location because then people could walk from
the convention center.

No, they sold that to the Premier Outlets company, who already has a big
"outlet" mall right next door. Orlando needs more shopping outlets, don'cha
know?

Are these guys serious? They want to build a 400' ferris wheel in
FLORIDA?

Have they paid attention to what happens in Florida on a fairly
regular basis?
I hope no-one lives within a 5 to 10 mile radius of the new bomb
conveyor.

Oh, don't worry, those bombs aren't loaded... as long as you ignore all
those screaming blobs of protoplasm.

You bet, lots of it. There's the Hilton Garden Inn, the Sheraton, and
the Renaissance Resort right there.

I have season passes to Busch and Universal, so I can park for free.
