Semi-OT and completely OT: Flickr and my cooking blog
If anyone is interested, there are lots of great photo sharing groups on
Flickr related to Disney. Lately I've been obsessed with the Disney
Photo Challenge <http://www.flickr.com/groups/disneyphotochallenge/>
group. Each challenge has a theme (anything from "princesses" to "the
color red") and folks post Disney related photos. Once 10 photos have
been entered, the members vote on their favorite. The winner's photo
gets put into the group pool of winning photos and the winner has the
opportunity to pick the next theme. We have more than ten themes going
at once so feel free to join any time. You don't have to be a member of
Flickr (which is free) to look at the 300 (so far) winning photos
<http://www.flickr.com/groups/disneyphotochallenge/pool/> but you will
need to join if you want to participate. Disclaimer: I am an admin for
the group (not that it means anything).
And now foe something completely different... out of nine baked items I
entered at the San Diego County Fair eight of them received an award
(two 1st, one 2nd, three 3rd, two honorable mention). My Rustic Olive
Oil Olive Bread even received Best of Division (to my surprise). That
means it was judged the best of all the yeast breads. If you are
interested, I will be putting all the recipes up on my cooking blog,
Adventures in Cooking <http://cooking.townhall.com>, over the next few
weeks. To make this a little more Disney oriented I am thinking of
changing the name of my blog to Anyone Can Cook since that is my point
of view on the blog. What do you think?

Neat, Barry!
I've just recently started cooking again - used to do some pretty mean
vegetarian food back in the day. I'm not much for baking because I'm
too scattered, I tend to do better with sauces, soups, braised things,
or at least things that go quickly.
My project for the time is trying three or four different variations of
chiles rellenos and coming up with something standard to put in my
personal cookbook.
I'll add your blog to my list of reads!

I love all cooking, but, baking is my favorite. I think it is because
the science is more exact. If you can't tell, I am a disciple of Alton

Cool, Barry! I'm not much of a baker, but I do like to cook also. I do
about 85% of the cooking in our house. My specialties tend to be
Italian dishes. I'm fairly particular about using fresh ingredients,
but I do use canned tomatoes, for two reasons - one, I' just to lazy to
crush them myself, but more importantly, I hate tomatoes! I hate the
smell and taste of them! Yes, I do eat them in my dishes, but they are
always heavily disguised with spices. Congrats on the win, and I'll
definitely be looking for the recipes on the blog!

I do most of the cooking in my house as well (especially now that my new
grill has arrived). I think the eight items is my limit since I was
cooking for 24 hours with time out only to sleep. My wife asked if we
needed to remodel the kitchen into a kitchen stadium.

My wife got me _I'm Just Here for the Food (food + heat = cooking)
v2.0_ Rather than having chapters for each type of course (e.g.,
appetizers, main courses) it is broken down by cooking method (frying,
poaching). V2.0 comes with meat magnets showing the different cuts of
beef, pork and lamb.

I have a copy of AB's first book (in fact, I got two signed copies
when it first came out - gave one to a friend for Xmas)... Really like
him a lot, another note of commonality - he rides BMW motorcycles &
when we lived in NC, MrIncredible ran a BMW m/c dealership

Well, if you watch Feasting On Asphalt I, you can see him
fall off of said BMW! :-)

That was a surprising episode. My favorite Good Eats episode is the one
where you find out what goes on behind the scenes (including who W is in
real life).
