Default Disney closing all PI clubs

Damn.

Not a total surprise, but it's finally happened: Disney
is closing the clubs on Pleasure Island:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/busi...0,2367595.story

:-(

Now I'm really hoping that Jim Hill's reports about a new
Adventurers Club at Animal Kingdom are true.

The article says Disney's looking "worldwide for restaurant and shopping
concepts." Okay, let's help them out: what restaurant and shopping
concepts should they put in Pleasure Island?

How about a restaurant that serves exotic food and has staff
who tell tales of their adventures in exotic places?

And another one that serves fun food and has staff who tell jokes?

:-)

Seriously - I'll sort of miss Mannequins, but it's not a place I hang
out. I just thought it was interesting (although not so much these
days as when it first opened.) But damn - the Ad Club and CW are my
homes. I've had a dream for 19 years to work at Ad Club someday. I
sure hope they find a way to hang on to these two concepts.

An Adventurer's Club Restaurant that serves British "club" food (Whatever
that might be LOL) and sells pith helmets, jodhpurs, crops, walking sticks,
etc. along with more normal "safari" type clothes and other items like
cargo shorts, t-shirts, backpacks, canteens, sleeping bags, etc. ...and
much of it would have a distinctive AC logo/graphic. The servers would be
"in character" as Pamelia Perkins, Otis T. Wren, Graves, the parlour Maid,
Hathaway Brown, etc. and would interact with each other and the guests
throughout the evening.

Good idea or out in left field?

Unfortunately, someone would probably dig up "Soap Opera Cafe" being one
of DCA's earliest casualties... -_-
