Golden Ticket Survey
Just got my Golden Ticket ballot from Amusement Today this week and
was wondering how everyone was voting on the Best Park category. I
guess I am really questioning whether I still want to support Cedar
Point/Fair which made a mess at Geauga Lake. There has been a lot of
talk since the fate of the old Big Dipper that has been sold for
almost nothing. I read that it was sold to a firm that may not have
any intention of preserving it. Just a few days ago the firm issued
an email to NAPHA that stated they had “a very interesting offer for
any group or organization that can pay to have them removed from the
park.”
I need to vote with a clear conscience and right now things don’t feel
right. Does anyone have more thoughts on this and a clear feeling on
how to vote? Do I send a signal to Cedar Fair and vote for another
park, or do I ignore the fact that Cedar Fair just threw away 120
years of history? Someone must be thinking the same way, right? I
do think it is time for change, but want more feedback from people who
know more than me. Just asking for input and guidance before I fill
it out.

You should vote on whether you like the park or not, not on stupid
company decisions. If you want to hurt the company, stop going to
their parks.
Personally, I think there are a bunch of parks that are far better
then Cedar Point.

Amen to that! I'd much rather spend a day at Silverwood, Indiana
Beach, Kennywood, Waldameer, Lake Compounce, Dollywood, Silver Dollar
City, Holiday World, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Knoebels....

Really, the challenge with regards to Golden Tickets is just that- the
same parks and rides get the same rankings (more or less) every year.
To AT's credit, they have been been reaching out to a larger pool of
voters which will surely shake things up a bit. That and with all of
the organized enthusiast trips overseas, we should slowly start to see
international parks and attractions start showing up more often.
For whatever reason, there are a select few who really do stand by
Millennium Force being the best steel coaster on earth. There are
also some who think The Beast is still a top ten woodie. While both
are unique and significant rides, I don't think there's any question
that neither are the best coasters even in their respective parks.

I agree that you should vote which is the best park. I always felt
that I rather spend my time and money at a theme park like Disney or
Busch Gardens then an amusement park like Cedar Point or Six Flags
