Default Train Connections from Feldkirch Austria to Antibes France

We cannot decide whether to catch a flight from Zurich to Nice and
then taxi to Antibes or use our Eurail passes and take trains. Someone
told me that there would be too many connections via the rail system.
Since we have a lot of time though, we thought it might be a pleasant
way to travel and see the countryside. Would appreciate and help on
the connections we would have to take to get from Feldkirch to Antibes
or any site that would aid us with the connections. Thanks so much.

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

gives two main choices, both requiring a train to Zurich first.

An early departure from Feldkirch (6.46) to Zurich then gives a connection
at Geneva onto a through French TGV to Antibes (arr 19.50). Fairly pretty,
but in my opinion the much more spectacular run is dep Feldkirch 10.50,
change Zurich onto an Italian Cisalpino which runs straight through the
mountains to Milano. You then have to change at Milano and the French
border, arriving Antibes 22.48. if you are travelling in summer the last leg
is along the coast. from 7pm onwards.

What about Feldkirch 7:15 to Buchs SG 7:39/8:01 to St.Gallen 8:56/9:02
to Arth-Goldau 10:47/52 to Nice Ville 19:58/20:18 to Antibes 20:32?

Problems with using the Nice - Antibes - Luxemburg overnighter on
Eurail?

Conditions d'emprunt du train de nuit Nice - Antibes - Luxembourg en
places assises avec carte Eurail?

Swiss Federal Railways website http://www.rail.ch/index_e.htm
shows itineraries of approximately 12 hours with 2 or more train
changes for Feldkirch -> Antibes.

With enough time and the right rail-pass I would consider a detour
through Switzerland using "Glacier Express" at least from Chur
to Brig (with possibility of a side-trip to Zermatt/Gornergrat
- my preferred side-trip) or better St.Moritz to Brig and then
Brig -> Geneva or Brig -> Milano for Antibes
Less spectacular but still nice is "Golden Pass". Details for
the "classic scenic routes" in Switzerland are at
http://www.rail.ch/pv/sts-pano_e.htm

And just one more hint when preparing itineraries for a rail-pass
trip: use "options" to remove the "bus" selection

Have a great trip
